TNA Impact wrestling house show report.

So this week I was lucky enough to check this show out free of charge. The odds are pretty good that if you read this site you either watch wrestling, or know that we watch and review wrestling. This is somewhat of a review, but I will leave the smark at the end. First I will preface that this is my first and likely last TNA show so I cannot compare it to other TNA events.

I will start with the card as advertised.

DJ Z Vs Sanada

Madison Rayne vs Angelina Love

Gunner vs James Storm

Bobby Roode vs Magnus

EC3 vs Abyss

The Wolves vs Team 3d

DJZ vs Sanada

This was you’re atypical match to start a show. Very flashy and tried to get the audience members involved. The flow of the match was often slowed down to a slow pace due to the two of them constantly fighting over DJ Z’s headphones. Sanada danced and got some laughs. I wonder if he regrets coming from Japan for this? Most people complain about WWE’s booking of Japanese talent, but TNA is probably a way worse offender. Sanada took the win in about eight minutes of very little action.

Madison Rayne vs Angelina Love

These two have been feuding for what seem like six years. This match was a carbon copy of every other match that came before. Angelina showed off her ass, Madison also showed of her ass, Love attacked and tried cheap tactics. Eventually Rayne gets the win. At the risk of sounding like a lame ass, live and in person Madison Rayne was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life. This has never translated on television.

Gunner vs James Storm

This match began after Gunner came out to the ring and did the pledge of allegiance. For as terrible as this guy is both in the ring and with his gimmick he kind of won me over prior to the event. I am unsure if you can see in the photo posted above, but there were several wrestlers doing meet and greets with fans and not one of them bothered to show any pretend enthusiasm for the paying consumers. Except for Gunner who greeted each person like it was wrestlemania weekend and he was in the main event. No one else seemed loose or having any bit of fun with the fans.

James Storm really demonstrated just how good he is at his job. I am not going to say the crowd was dead after the first two uneventful matches, but it wasn’t a hot crowd either. To boot it was a very very small crowd with lots of empty seats. IWC has drawn better. Storm really got everyone into the match with his heel work and when he got the win after a dusty finish the place erupted with boos. Except for me of course.

Bobby Roode vs Magnus

Magnus showed a lot of enthusiasm and actually won me over a lot in this match. He even took the crowd to another level than even Storm did and Roode was pretty over with the small crowd. If Storm had a better opponent his match may have equaled this one, but these two put on the match of the night and treated it like a lot more than a house show in front of very few people. Roode got the win.

EC3 vs Abyss

Ethan Carter came out with a promo about wanting to take the night off and that he was sure Abyss would be a reasonable man. This segment came off quite low rent and indy. For christ sakes he is the Monster Abyss. I don’t want silly antics from Abyss. I want monsters ball, blood, tacks, tables, Janice. I got a short squash match in wich EC3 won. Abyss stuck around and posed after for some reason.

The Wolves vs Team 3d

What a mess of a main event. For starters Bully Ray didn’t show up. Apparently he is done with the company (according to reports I have read since Friday) So Devon says he will take the match by himself. Director of Opeerations Kurt Angle comes out and gets a huge pop. He says that it’s a tag title match and it’s important that the Wolves and the fans see Devon with a partner. Enter Mr Anderson.

Anderson and Devon did w long segment where they jokingly referd to the Dudley boys and Mr Kennedy properties owned by WWE and joked about being sued. This is everything that is wrong with TNA. It’s nice to see a loose show and everything, but they can’t even have their own identity as a company at a freaking house show. I was actually excited to see Team 3d. I haven’t seen the Dudleys live in years. I marked pretty hard. Then I was let down.

The match starts and not even half way through Davey Richards legitimately broke his leg and was carried out of the stage area. I could see them working on him in the back because they had a shoddy set up. He later tweeted pics from the hospital. Abyss came out and took his place and he and Edwards won the match.

Other notable appearances:

Brian and Earl Hebner were the refs on hand. Christy Hemme was the ring announcer. Angle had a meet and Greet after the show that cost only 20 dollars. If I wasn’t working I would have participated. Very few stayed.

Now for the smarky stuff. ┬áIt’s no wonder why this company is in the dumps. People paid 65 dollars to see this crappy show and every wrestler that I didn’t state otherwise totally phoned it in and couldn’t care less to make an effort. I couldn’t tell you how Davey Richards even broke his leg because he was doing nothing, it looked like he hurt himself during a rest hold. The crowd drew terrible numbers. I was at this same venue for the Freshbeat Band and they had to set up extra seating it was so packed and sold out.

Here’s another pic I took. My cell phone camera is awful despite being a smart phone.
