Lays Cappuccino Flavored Potato Chips

I’m always interested in the new and weird potato chip flavors Lays comes out with during their yearly contest. Chicken and Waffles, Cheesy Garlic Bread, Citrus. I get excited about things like that. None of those flavors were offensively bad, but they weren’t good either. We take what we can get as potato chip fans, and sometimes this is the most interesting thing in the potato chip world. I just wish a flavor would come along that I would actually eat.

Cappuccino flavored chips ain’t it.

I will preface this by saying I don’t drink coffee or cappuccino. The taste has never been my cup of tea (or coffee if you will). However, I can appreciate the bitterness and unique taste of coffee. The problem here is finding somebody who would want to snack on that taste in chip form. I can confirm there’s at least one deranged person and his name is Chad Scott. He came up with this flavor. He’s a monster.

It has a strong coffee taste at first, sugar, a hint of salt, and then potato. The whole thing is offensive to my mouth. It often bounces between disgusting and repugnant. After just one chip my mouth was so dry it felt like I took a shot of sand. The aftertaste can be described as “potato soaked in toilet coffee”. This is one of those chips where if you eat them fast enough you can kind of just taste chip (I tested various speeds and fast is the only way to keep them in your mouth). This technique is only done when your snack options are something disgusting or stale.

I only recommend Lays Cappuccino Flavored Potato Chips in end of the world or end of the cupboard scenarios.
